Infamously, Bruce McKinney gave up on VB when version 6 was released. This article covers why he did, most of which I must admit to having considerable sympathy with (although he did seem to have failed to take into account my advice on the, erm, fact that only VB releases with odd version numbers are any good, and he appears to be just bitching now.)

Better than that is the fantastic side effect of his jumping ship: you can download absolutely all of the code for his abortive edition 3 of the book free courtesy of DevX. Most highly recommended! Just be sure that you keep the words "Visual Basic" next to the "Hardcore"...
